Doug Tudor is a good progressive Democrat who did well in 2008 against incumbent Republican leader Adam Putnam, despite limited resources. This time around, Doug has a primary opponent in Polk County Supervisor of Elections Lori Edwards. Edwards is a self-proclaimed conservative Democrat who has the endorsement of the Blue Dog Caucus, as well as the DCCC.
Today on Morning Joe, Chuck Todd reported on a statement by Rep. Maxine Waters that Rahm Emanuel's "chickens had come home to roost." Waters was referring to Emanuel's recruitment of Blue Dogs in the 2006 cycle and the current Blue Dog obstructionism on healthcare.
If we want a stronger Democratic Party, then we need to elect Democrats who will support the agenda that Americans voted for last November. We can send no stronger message to conservative obstructionists than by defeating the Blue Dogs in primaries.
